Scenario
You have set up a network share. You then attempt to create a Backup Job which backs up to an existing Subfolder of this network share as destination.
Problem
Hard Disk Manager product closes itself. The next time you start the program, the destination will be displayed with a yellow exclamation mark and the message “Network share not available”. You click on the network resource, the corresponding setup dialog opens and you close it again with “OK”. After changing the selection - for example to another backup task and back - the network folder is available again.
Reason
The issue is caused by the Subdirectory of the network resource not having the same permissions as the root network share This is particularly common on Linux systems, whose user authorization system is not the same as Windows. Since most NAS systems run on the Linux operating system, such cases are certainly not rare.
Solution
Since this is only a problem with the display of the network folder, scheduled backup tasks continue uninterrupted. If you want to solve the problem, you can solve this by setting the permissions of the share and subfolders on the NAS or Share to “Everyone” and “Full Control” or 777 (rwxrwxrwx) depending on the operating system.
