Error: Some files are missing after copy or restore
Windows Volume Shadow Copy Service or Volume Snapshot Service (VSS) is used by default to create file system snapshot that are required to perform in-Windows backup (without reboot).
VSS has some pre-defined exludes that can be changed in the registry to add or delete exludes and adjust content of resulting backup.
– Please open Windows Registry in source Windows (Start –> type: regedit)
– Find the following keys:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Control/BackupRestore/FilesNotToBackup
-> These settings are applied only to built-in Windows BackupHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Control/BackupRestore/FilesNotToSnapshot -> These settings are applied to all programs tha use VSS to create file system snapshots, including Paragon Software.
– Delete parameters to allow certain data to be included in the copy
– Repeat the backup/copy
Description of some items: WUA – Windows update history, RAC – Windows perfomance monitor, WER – Windows events logs, Temporary Files as is.
